Every roof we fit comes with two separate warranties, and homeowners are often sold one of them as though it were both.
The manufacturer's warranty
The first is the manufacturer's, which covers the shingle itself against defects for anywhere between twenty five years and a lifetime. It is a real protection, but it only applies if the roof was installed exactly to specification, which is how a cheap installation quietly voids an expensive product.
Our workmanship warranty
The second is ours. It covers workmanship for ten years, which means the flashing, the fasteners, the ventilation and everything else that depends on the crew rather than the factory.
What neither warranty covers
Storm damage is not a warranty matter, it is an insurance one, and no roofer covers an act of weather. Neither warranty covers damage caused by someone else working on the roof afterwards, which includes satellite installers and solar crews.
Blocked gutters are the other exclusion worth knowing about, because water backing up under the eaves is maintenance rather than a fault in the roof.
How to actually use it
Both are written down and handed to you at the final walkthrough, not posted out weeks later.
If something does go wrong, we would rather you called us than the manufacturer, because in almost every case the fault sits with the installation and we are the ones who can put it right.
